Damian Alejandro Arteaga

Damian Alejandro Arteaga is an accomplished playwright, actor and director based in Southern California. He received his B.A in Theatre from California State Fullerton with an emphasis in Playwriting and Directing. He also minored in Chicana/o Studies. 


  • He has been a member of PlayGround-LA’s Writers Pool since 2023 and has been staged nine times over three seasons. He has also been selected for Best of PlayGround-LA twice with his plays, The Family with a Short Fuse and Friendly Fire. He was also recognized as the winner of Full Circle Players Emerging Voices Festival with his play “Super Duper Happy Immigrant Funtimeland.” He had his short play Growing Starseed produced as part of Little Fish Theatre’s Pick of the Vine Festival ‘25. He was also selected to partake in the Morgan-Wixson Theatre’s New Work Festival: The LA Chapters with his play Busted Open. Other places you might have seen his plays include: The Redlands Theatre Festival, Different Strokes PAC, and the CSUF One-Act Festival.

  • His acting spans both classical works and immersive experiences. He has worked as a scare actor at both Knotts Scary Farm and The 17th Door. His acting credits include Mercutio (Romeo and Juliet), Dromio of Syracuse (Comedy of Errors), Touchstone (As You Like It), Sherlock (A Sherlock Carol), Coro #4 (Oedipus El Rey) and Dr. Chausible (The Importance of Being Earnest). He has worked with a variety of theatres across Southern California including: The Courtyard Shakespeare Festival, Full Circle Players, New Threads Theatre Company, Redlands Footlighters Theatre, Village Barn Playhouse, Stage Door Repertory Theatre and Stages OC.

  • His directorial expertise has been put on display and celebrated. He was recognised as the KCACTF Directing Fellowship Alternate in 2022. His directing credits include Leaving Home (CSUF), Este Corazón es Suyo (Frida Kahlo Theatre) and Tiebreaker (The Redlands Theatre Festival.) He also assistant-directed the CSUF Mainstage productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream under Tommy Statler. During his directing journey he gained a love for sound design which also allowed him to be hired professionally for projects at CSUF and Little Fish Theatre.
